Tree service quotes and free estimate requests
Tree work is priced per tree, not by the square foot. A removal, a careful crown trim, and a stump grind are three different jobs with three different prices, so instead of an instant number, YardQuote sends your details straight to a local tree-care contractor who can quote the work accurately.
How tree services are priced
Lawn mowing scales with yard size, which is why YardQuote can measure a lawn from parcel and satellite data and price it in seconds. Tree work does not scale that way. The cost of working on a single tree comes down to four things:
- Size of the tree. Height, trunk diameter, and canopy spread drive how long the job takes and what equipment is needed.
- The job type. Trimming and pruning, full removal, stump grinding, and storm cleanup are priced very differently.
- Access. A tree in an open front yard is far cheaper to work than one wedged between a house, a fence, and a power line.
- Number of trees. Crews often discount the second and third tree on the same visit because the setup is already done.
Typical tree work price ranges
| Job type | Small tree | Medium tree | Large or very large |
|---|---|---|---|
| Trim and prune | $125 to $300 | $300 to $700 | $700 to $1,500 |
| Removal | $300 to $600 | $600 to $1,200 | $1,200 to $3,000+ |
| Stump grinding | $100 to $200 | $200 to $400 | $400 to $800+ |
| Storm cleanup | Quoted on site by debris volume and hazard. Emergency and after-hours work costs more. | ||
These are national ballpark ranges for planning only. Your contractor sets the real price after reviewing your request, and difficult access, proximity to power lines, or permits can move it up.
Tree size classes
- Small (under 25 ft): ornamentals, young trees, tall shrubs.
- Medium (25 to 50 ft): established yard trees such as many maples and birches.
- Large (50 to 75 ft): mature shade trees.
- Very large (over 75 ft): mature oaks, pines, cottonwoods, and similar.
Not sure which to pick? Choose the closest match and add anything useful in the notes, like trunk width, lean, dead limbs, or how near the tree is to a house or line.

How much does tree removal cost?
Most single-tree removals run from about $300 for a small tree to $2,000 or more for a very large tree. The big drivers are height and trunk diameter, how close the tree is to a house or power line, and how easily a crew can reach it. Stump grinding is usually quoted separately.
Why does YardQuote not show an instant price for tree work?
Lawn mowing scales with yard square footage, which YardQuote can measure from parcel and satellite data. Tree work does not. Two trees on the same lot can differ by thousands of dollars based on size, species, lean, and access, so an accurate tree quote needs a few details from you and, in most cases, a quick look from the contractor.
What counts as a small, medium, large, or very large tree?
As a rough guide: small is under 25 feet (ornamentals, young trees), medium is 25 to 50 feet, large is 50 to 75 feet, and very large is over 75 feet (mature oaks, pines, and the like). Trunk diameter and canopy spread matter too, so pick the closest match and add a note.
Is the estimate request really free?
Yes. Sending a request is free with no obligation. Your details go to a tree-care contractor who will follow up to confirm scope and schedule an on-site assessment where needed.
